Cover Specs Compared Side
Compatible Boat Models
Product A is designed specifically for the 2021-2022 Hobie Mirage Passport 12.0. Product B fits the 2017-2020 Hobie Mirage Outback. You must match the cover to your exact boat year and model. The Passport cover will not fit the Outback, and vice versa. This is the most critical difference. Choose the cover that matches your specific kayak model. Using the wrong cover can lead to poor fit and potential damage.
Material Composition
Both covers use 7.6oz solution dyed polyester canvas. This fabric is sturdy and designed for durability. The solution dyeing process helps the color resist fading from sun exposure. You get the same material strength and texture on both covers. This means protection levels against abrasion and wear are identical. You do not need to choose one over the other based on fabric quality alone.
Water Resistance Features
Each cover is sewn with anti-wicking thread. This feature increases water repellency by preventing moisture from traveling through the seams. Both covers are also breathable to allow air circulation. This breathability helps reduce condensation and mildew growth inside the cover. You get the same level of weather protection and moisture management from either product. The construction methods for water resistance are identical.
Fit and Closure System
Both covers feature a fully elastic hemline for a contoured and tight fit. Nylon loops are sewn along the hem for tie-downs or mooring weights. Extra loops allow for customization based on your trailer and boat accessories. The closure system is the same on both covers. You will use the same method to secure the cover. This ensures consistent stability during transport or storage regardless of which cover you select.
Included Accessories
Tiedown straps are included with both covers unless otherwise noted. These straps help secure the cover during trailering. Both covers are well suited for all-weather use, trailering, and mooring. Use of support poles is encouraged and required for outdoor use. You receive the same essential accessories for setup. The included hardware supports identical usage scenarios for both the Passport and Outback covers.

Your boat is a 2017-2020 Hobie Mirage Outback, so you require a cover designed for that specific chassis. This option matches those years precisely. It features the same 7.6oz solution dyed polyester canvas for longevity. The anti-wicking thread enhances water repellency. The nylon loops along the hem allow for customizable tie-down options during trailering or mooring.
Looking for identical construction and material quality
Both covers share identical specs: 7.6oz solution dyed polyester, anti-wicking thread, and elastic hems. You cannot go wrong with either based on material alone. However, you must prioritize fit. If your boat is a Passport 12.0 from 2021-2022, choose this one. The specific styling ensures proper coverage without excess material flapping in the wind.

Frequently asked questions
Are both covers made from the same material?

Both covers weigh exactly 4 pounds. This identical weight suggests similar material density and construction thickness. You will notice no difference in portability or handling when lifting or storing either cover. The weight remains constant whether you are protecting a Passport or an Outback.
Is the fit specific to each kayak model?
Yes, each cover is tailored to its specific kayak range. The Passport cover fits 2021-2022 Hobie Mirage Passport 12.0 models. The Outback cover fits 2017-2020 Hobie Mirage Outback boats. You must match the cover to your exact boat year and model for a proper seal and protection.
